FLEX Abroad - American students in Poland!

This year, not only the Polish students departured to the USA for a cultural exchange sponsored by the US Department of State. We are excited to launch the first edition of the FLEX Abroad Program, aimed at American high school students who will spend the entire school year in Warsaw.

All FLEX Abroad students attend the Robert Schuman High School with Bilingual Departments no. CXXXVII in Warsaw and live with Polish host families.

Four scholars come to Poland from very different places in the USA, they are high school students aged 15-18. Some will continue high school in the USA, and for some of them, it is a gap year between high school and college. They all arrived in Poland in mid-August and started an intensive Polish language course from the very first weeks.

Meet the FLEX Abroad students in Poland!

Charley

“Hi I’m Charley, I’m 15 years old and I’m from Maryland. In Poland, I hope to learn about the culture and immerse myself in the language. Looking forward to spending the next 10 months in this beautiful country!”

Julie

“Hello! My name is Julie, I am 18 years old and from Springfield, Virginia, in the greater Washington D.C. area. Despite my short time here, I am already in love with Warsaw and can't wait to learn more about the Polish language and culture, and document my time here as I am a content creator and interested in sharing Warsaw with my community back home. My goal is to get involved in Warsaw, for example through volunteering or finding cultural events, and also especially to learn Polish to a conversational level and make the most out of my time here!”

Alynn

Czesć! My name is Alynn Miranda, I’m 18 years old and from the state of Texas. I would describe myself as very passionate about languages and politics and one of my main reasons to come to Poland was to learn about its history and culture. Fun fact: I’ve lived my whole life in a city where we go to the beach for Christmas and we are at 35 Celsius every day, and getting used to this cold weather in Warsaw it’s kinda hard.”

Marcelo

“Hello my name is Marcelo, I'm from Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. My hobbies are photography, practicing bass guitar, and drawing. My goals during my exchange are to try new activities that I have never tried and explore more of the world.”
